A mobile device is not required to create or use a passkey. Passkeys can be stored in various password managers that you may already be using on your computer.
The following options are available:
Windows Hello: On Windows devices, you can create and manage passkeys directly with Windows Hello. You sign in using a fingerprint, facial recognition, or PIN, with no mobile device needed.
Apple Passwords: On Apple devices such as Mac, iPhone, or iPad, passkeys are automatically saved in the iCloud Keychain and are available across all your Apple devices. On Mac, you sign in conveniently using Touch ID.
Google Password Manager: If you use Google Chrome, you can save passkeys in the built-in Google Password Manager. They are then available on all devices where you are signed in with your Google account.
Third-party password managers: Well-known password managers such as 1Password, Bitwarden, or Keeper Security also support passkeys, allowing you to sign in across platforms without a mobile device.
When signing in, your chosen password manager will automatically suggest the matching passkey. If you use Keeper Security, for example, a prompt will appear during login that lets you select the saved passkey with a single click:
If you are unsure which option suits you best, we recommend using the solution already available on your device. Windows Hello on PC, Apple Passwords on Mac, or Google Password Manager in Chrome are all good starting points, as they are already integrated into your operating system or browser.
